Costa to Man Utd soon?

Manchester United are moving forward with a formal bid to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa this summer.

The Red Devils have had David de Gea as their first-choice goalkeeper for the past 12 years, but that could change next season.

The Spaniard has been prone to making errors leading to goals, and Erik ten Hag could seek a young replacement very soon.

According to O Jogo, Costa is the prime target for United and an agreement could be reached between the clubs before June 30.

Porto need to balance their financial books by that date, and they are open to selling Costa for his release clause of £64 million.

United are open to meeting the price for a transfer, but they are likely to negotiate a long-term payment plan for the Portugal international.

The Red Devils may seek to pay the fee over five seasons. The first instalment of the transfer package could be made next summer.

Costa has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Napoli, but he is determined to move to the Premier League next season.
