Land handed over for Delhi-Katra Expressway: DC Jalandhar informed Chief Secretary and NHAI President in virtual meeting

The process of acquisition of 100 percent land under Delhi-Katra Expressway in Jalandhar, Punjab has been completed and handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). While the possession of about 80 percent of the land has been taken under the Jalandhar Bypass Scheme, so that the way can be cleared for the speedy construction of the project of national importance.

NHAI President Alka Upadhyay and Chief Secretary VK Janjua held a virtual meeting with the administrative officers of the district to take stock of the progress of different highway projects. Participating in the meeting through video conference, DC Jaspreet Singh informed that 100 per cent of the land acquired under Delhi-Katra Expressway has been given to NHAI in Jalandhar-2, Phillaur and Nakodar.

Under the widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover schemes, 100 percent land has already been taken. He informed that about 80 per cent of the land under Jalandhar bypass has been taken over and the process of possession has also been expedited for Amritsar-Bathinda Green Field Bypass.

Jaspreet Singh said that an amount of Rs 475.25 crore has been distributed to the owners of the land acquired under the Delhi-Katra Expressway project. SDM-2 Jalandhar has paid an amount of 256.57 crores, SDM Phillaur 118.19 and SDM Nakodar 100.49 crores to the land owners.

Similarly, 224 crore has been paid under Jalandhar bypass, 135.37 crore under Adampur flyover scheme and 10.5 crore under Amritsar-Bathinda green field bypass scheme for widening of NH-70. During this, the Deputy Commissioner has also directed the Competent Authority of Land Acquisition to expedite the work of disbursing the amount to the persons related to the pending 3G award.

During the virtual meeting with Punjab Chief Secretary VK Janjua and NHAI President Alka Upadhyay, SDM Jalandhar-1 Jai Inder Singh, SDM Jalandhar-2 Balbir Raj Singh, of the areas where money was awarded by acquiring land, SDM Nakodar Randeep Singh Heer, District Revenue Officer Jashanjit Singh were also present.
