Hindu leader Sudhir Suri, who was murdered in Amritsar, Punjab, has merged with the Panchtatva. His last journey left home at around 12 o’clock, which reached the cremation ground at 1:30. It took one and a half hour to cover the 4 kilometer journey.
Crowds of people gathered to bid a final farewell to Suri. Slogans of Suri Amar Rahe were also echoed in the crematorium. At the same time, the police also made tight security arrangements.

Earlier, the police had placed Hindu leaders who attended the funeral procession under house arrest. Suri’s family was furious at this. The family had announced that they would not take out the funeral procession until these Hindu leaders were released. After this the police released the Hindu leaders. In view of the atmosphere, Sikh leaders were placed under house arrest.
In the last journey, slogans of Suri Amar Rahe were raised.
It is noteworthy that the family agreed for the last rites after assuring them of the demands from the district administration late in the night.
The vehicle in which Suri’s body was carried was decorated with flowers. With this, his photo was put in front of the car.
After the post-mortem on Saturday, his body was taken to his house in Tilak Nagar. Where his family and Hindu organizations staged a sit-in till 6 pm. During this, he also sat on the railway lines for about half an hour. There was also a light skirmish with the police. The demands were conveyed to the district administration on behalf of the family and organizations.
DC and Police Commissioner reached Sudhir Suri’s house on Saturday evening.
The family had demanded martyr status for Sudhir Suri, government job for one of the family, security to Hindu leaders and registration of Amritpal Singh’s name in the FIR. Which was accepted by DC Harpreet Singh Sudan and Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh at around 6:30 pm.
Tightened security in the city
Security has been tightened in the city since the announcement of the funeral procession by the family. Some Sikh leaders have also been put under house arrest since yesterday. Not only this, police have been deployed in every nook and corner of the city.

Amritsar police produced the accused Sandeep Singh in the court on Saturday afternoon. The court has sent Sandeep to police remand for 7 days. Meanwhile, the police raided Sandeep’s house in New Pratap Nagar as well, but nothing suspicious was found from his house. Some electronic gadgets have been confiscated by the police. which has been sent for examination.
