In Ludhiana, Punjab, Vigilance has arrested ASI and his accomplice for taking bribe. The bribe was sought to settle the electricity theft case. Vigilance caught red handed taking 5 thousand bribe. The accused ASI Harpreet Singh is posted at Anti Theft Police Station PSPCL Ludhiana.
A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused ASI Harpreet Singh and Karamjit Singh have been arrested on the complaint of Tarlochan Singh, resident of Mandi Gobindgarh district, Fatehgarh Sahib.
He said that the complainant told that the ASI was demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 to settle the domestic electricity theft case, but the deal was done for Rs 5,000. Karamjit Singh was caught red handed by a Vigilance team after verification of the evidence given by the complainant, who had taken bribe amount of Rs 5,000 on behalf of Harpreet Singh ASI from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He said that a case has been registered in this regard under Section 7, 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Police Station Flying Squad-1, Punjab in SAS Nagar. The inspection of the matter is going on.
