422267 cusec water will be released from Pong Dam: Water level of Beas river will increase, people in Gurdasuper are instructed to go to safer places

Water will be released from Himachal’s Pong Dam on August 20. This water will be released at 1 pm. Actually, the water level in the dam has reached 1372.33. Keeping safety in mind, it has been decided to release the water from the dam. Due to which people living in the area around the Beas river have been asked to move to higher places.

According to the information received, it has been decided to release 422267 cusecs of water from Pong Dam at 1 pm on Sunday, 20 August. The excess water will be released into Shah Canal Barrage by the Pong Dam Authority. From where the water will go further into the Beas river. In such a situation, there is a possibility of increasing the water level of the Beas river.

Instruction not to go to water affected areas

DC Gurdaspur Mohammad Ishfaq has issued a warning to the residents near the river. In which people have been asked not to go to low-lying areas affected by water. Residents living close to the river have also been asked to remain alert. The water level is expected to rise there, so people have been asked to move to safer places.
