In Amritsar, Punjab, soon water from canals will be purified and made potable and delivered to homes. Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Brahm Shankar reached Zimpa to see the canal water project being built in Majjupura village of Amritsar. Who inspected the lab and project built under this project.

Minister Zimpa said that about 1700 villages of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka and Ferozepur are being provided canal water through projects. 1100 crore works are going on to improve the water quality of entire Punjab. In Amritsar district, work is underway on canal water based water schemes with an investment of Rs 378 crore. With this, 369 villages of the district will get clean water. The companies have been given a 10-year project.
Arsenic-Iron Removal Plant in Malwa
He said that arsenic-iron has dissolved in water in Malwa and some villages of Punjab. Arsenic low iron removal plants are being started in these areas with the help of IIT Madras (Chennai) so that people can get potable water. Apart from this, one state level, 6 regional, 17 district level and 7 block level laboratories are working to ensure that clean water reaches the houses.
