Women’s groups working in the state will now prepare sanitary pads. This arrangement has been made by the government to make self-help group women self-reliant and to provide better employment resources. Women will make sanitary pads which will be sold in the district itself.
The outline of this project has been prepared by the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission. Along with this, Joint Mission Director Pradeep Kumar has also issued orders for all the districts of the state. A unit for making sanitary pads will be set up in all the districts of the state, whose operation will be the responsibility of women’s groups.
Two units will be installed in each block
The department will set up two units in each block of every district. Under which a total of 24 units will be set up in 12 blocks of Aligarh district. In this, these will be operated through Scheduled Caste groups in the blocks under Non Farm Livelihood.
After the order of the department, where the officials have started preparations to set up a sanitary pad making unit. At the same time, two women self-help groups are also being identified from each block. So that it can operate better.

Under the scheme of the government, many units are running in the district for women. In which the women of Self Help Groups are preparing various things. At present, women’s groups in the district are making things like phenol, toilet cleaner, broom, paper bowl, plate, etc.
The items prepared through the women’s group are supplied to the government departments. Along with this, they are also being sold in the online market. So that women can get better results of their hard work and their sources of income are also strengthened.
Price will be half of the market
The price of sanitary pads made by women’s groups will be half the price of sanitary pads of companies available in the market. So that women, adolescent girls, girls in the village can also buy it easily.
Women need sanitary pads during menstruation every month. Negligence in its use can also cause many diseases to women. Due to which the women of the help group will also run awareness campaigns in the villages and give the message of cleanliness during menstruation.
NRLM District Manager Mr. Aslam said that two units would be installed in each block in the entire state. It will be operated by women’s group only. Their price will be less than the market. A list of 24 groups has been sought from Aligarh, which will soon be prepared and sent to the government.
