A 25-year-old woman was raped by the manager in a shopping mall in Punjab’s Ludhiana. The incident happened on August 25. The woman told the police in the complaint that she along with her fellow employee was getting the shop closed during the night. During this, the employee forced her and dragged her inside the shop.
The accused raped her. Also threatened him that it would not be good if he told anyone about this incident. The woman remained silent for some time, but again lodged a complaint against the accused in the police station division number 8. The police got the woman medically done and registered a case against the accused. The accused has been identified as Vishwajit Dev Nath alias Charlie. The accused is a resident of Kundanpuri in Kailash Chowk.
The woman told the police that she has been working in a store in a shopping mall for the past few months. The accused Vishwajit Dev Nath alias Charlie is the manager of the shop. He said that on August 25, at around 9.30 pm, they were closing the shop. After the rest of the staff had gone home, she started helping Vishwajeet close the shop.
Seeing the opportunity, the accused pushed her into the shop and raped her. ASI Janak Raj, who is probing the case, said that soon after receiving the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
