In fact, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday (October 8) appointed Army General Sergei Surovikin to lead a joint group of forces involved in the Ukraine war. According to a report, the newly appointed General Sergei Surovikin has previously served as the commander of Russia’s Eastern Military District. He also led Russian troops in Syria. Russia recently occupied four regions of Ukraine – Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
