The ‘Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) was established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran. Since then Major General Hossein Salami has progressed through the ranks. Hossein Salami was born in 1960 in Golpayegan, which is in the Isfahan province of Iran. He studied at the Iran University of Science and Technology as well as the Armed Forces of Iran, specifically the Iranian Army Command and General Staff College.
