Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said a lot about India in the United Nations General Assembly. Shahbaz Sharif said that we want peace with all our neighbors including India, but lasting peace and stability in South Asia depends on a proper and permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. Addressing a session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Sharif claimed that India’s “illegal and unilateral” move on 5 August 2019 to change the special status of Jammu and Kashmir has further undermined the prospects of peace and regional Tension has flared up.

Shehbaz Sharif said, “I have assured the world forum that Pakistan stands by its commitment to peace in South Asia. India should take appropriate steps to create an environment for fruitful dialogue.”

What did Shahbaz Sharif say about Jammu and Kashmir?

Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif said that I think this is the right time when India should clearly understand the message that both the countries are armed with weapons. War is not an option. Only peaceful dialogue can solve these issues so that the world becomes more peaceful in the times to come. Sharif said India has increased its military deployment in Jammu and Kashmir, making it the most militarized region in the world.

Need to create atmosphere for talks – Sharif

Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif further said that India should take appropriate steps to create an environment for fruitful talks. India has told Pakistan many times that Jammu and Kashmir was, is and will remain an integral part of it. Sharif said India and Pakistan should not waste their resources trying to buy more ammunition and fuel tensions. He said that he is ready to come forward to hold talks with his Indian counterparts so that our generations do not suffer.
