Covid-19 India Update: Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO (CEO) Adar Poonawalla on Tuesday expressed concern over the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in China but said that India need not panic because of its large-scale vaccination.
It is worth mentioning that just a day before Poonawalla’s statement, the Union Health Ministry had asked all the states and union territories to speed up genome sequencing in view of increasing cases of infection in the US and China and to detect any new form of virus in the infected samples. Told to keep an eye on coming forward and keep a record of it.
Poonawala has tweeted, “The news of increasing cases of infection coming from China is a matter of concern, but there is no need to panic in view of our large-scale vaccination and better record.” We should have faith and follow the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Union Ministry of Health.
The government has asked all states and union territories to send samples of new Covid positive patients to INSACOG (Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium) lab, so that genome sequencing of this sample can be done there and if there is any new variant of corona If it flourishes, it can be tracked.
