According to the study, due to the long-term effect of Kovid, about one-third of the patients have reduced the ability to recognize smell and about 20 percent of the patients were found to have symptoms like loss of taste.

The University of East Anglia (UEA), UK team examined long-term exposure to COVID-specific symptoms related to the ear, nose and throat, including loss of smell and ‘parosmia’ (delusion of smell) is included.
The results of the study have been published in the research journal ‘International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology’. Researcher Karl Philpott, who was involved in the study, said, “Long Covid is a complex condition that develops during or after infection, and is included in this category when symptoms persist for more than 12 weeks .”

“We wanted to learn more about the long-term spread of Covid, and specifically about symptoms related to the ear, nose and throat, such as loss of smell and parosmia,” Philpott said.
The study team looked at the results of a survey conducted on coronavirus infection in Britain and analyzed information from more than 3,60,000 people in March 2022. A total of 10,431 participants were identified as suffering from long-term Covid and were asked about 23 personal symptoms and the impact of the condition on their daily activities, the study said.
