On Wednesday, there was enthusiasm among the people of this festival of victory of Shri Ram over Ravana, so their eyes were moist about the farewell of the world-mother. In the evening, the effigy of Ravana was burnt in a public program organized in the Nazarbagh temple premises. At the same time, the people of the committee were upset due to the change in the weather. The effigies were wet after the rain in the morning. Somehow the effigies were saved from water by applying polythene. After clearing the weather in the afternoon, once again the effigies were prepared after painting. Due to bad weather, most of the Navdurga committees immersed the idols in the afternoon itself. After the burning of Ravana, about 25 to 30 tableaux participated in the running ceremony. The process of immersion of the idol continued late into the night.
The artists of Ramlila troupe burnt
In the Nazarbagh courtyard at 8.40 pm, the artists of Vijay Raghav Mandir Ramlila Committee burnt the effigy of Ravana. First the effigy of Kumbhakaran was burnt. After this Meghnath and then finally Ravana’s effigy was burnt. Shri Ram-Lakshman, Hanuman and other artists along with the administrative staff completed the ritual of Ravana Dahan.
