Amit Vij, cashier of Punjab Congress and former MLA from Pathankot.
Punjab Congress cashier and former Pathankot MLA Amit Vij said that vigilance inquiry into irregularities in the corporation was initiated against him on the complaint of a person who is himself involved in criminal cases. He claimed that the Pathankot police had arrested the accused in the past and he is currently out on bail. Vij said that he would fully cooperate in the investigation when called by the Vigilance.
Vij said that he has all the documents against the complainant in the case. He will soon file a defamation case against her. According to Vij, on the complaint of mining officer Abhishek Khatri, Pathankot police had registered a case against Ankit Mehra and others on October 18. It is clear from this that they used to make recovery by posing as fake mining officers.

Vij expressed the apprehension of an attempt to create a political conspiracy against him and said that the anti-development of Pathankot during his tenure is not able to tolerate. That is why they are trying to defame him by making baseless complaints. Vij said that he did his duty honestly as a public representative. He vehemently denied the allegation of causing damage to the state exchequer and said that there was never a thought of taking advantage of anyone’s loss.
Vigilance action
Vigilance is currently investigating against 6 former Congress ministers and MLAs. Sunder Sham Arora, one of the former ministers, has joined the BJP, but is currently in jail for giving bribe of Rs 50 lakh and benefitting his close ones in Bharat Bhushan Ashu Mandis. While Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Sangat Singh Giljian are out on bail. Vigilance has also registered a case against Captain Sandeep Sandhu, who contested from Dakha assembly seat on Congress ticket. Captain Sandhu is the General Secretary of the Punjab Congress.
