UK-India Relation: UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverley will arrive in India today, Friday 28 October, for his first official visit. He will meet his Indian counterpart Dr Jaishankar and discuss strengthening UK-India ties. First of all he will go to Mumbai today and then to New Delhi on Saturday. In Mumbai, he will pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2008 terror attack in the city at the Taj Palace Hotel.
On Saturday, Britain’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverley will travel to New Delhi to attend a special meeting of the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee. There she will call on the countries of the world to work together to fight terrorism online, including through global terrorist recruitment campaigns and live streaming of attacks.
India-UK to discuss 2030 roadmap
In New Delhi, he is due to meet Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar to discuss the latest on the 2030 Roadmap, in which the two countries will reiterate their historic commitment to boost cooperation between the UK and India over the next decade as part of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi spoke to PM Sunak on Thursday
Prime minister Narendra Modi On Thursday, spoke on the phone with the new Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak. Modi congratulated him on becoming the Prime Minister of Britain and expressed hope of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. PM Modi himself gave this information by tweeting.
PM Modi said he and Sunak agreed to finalize a comprehensive and balanced free trade agreement. We will work together to further strengthen our comprehensive strategic partnership.
Britain’s new PM Rishi Sunak thanked PM Modi for his congratulations. Sunak wrote on social media – Thank you for your well wishes. The UK and India have a lot in common and I am excited that our two great democracies will further strengthen their security, defense and economic partnership in the years to come.
