Farmers’ contingents will gather in Phagwara’s Dana Mandi tomorrow on Friday. Farmers’ groups are going to rally on the issue of paddy crop, stubble problem, water in Punjab and not getting DAP fertilizer. This rally is being organized by Bharatiya Kisan Union Rajewal.

Balbir Singh Rajewal will come as the keynote speaker.

In the rally, the leaders of all the jathabandis will present their views on the problems faced by the farmers in doing farming and other work. The main problem of the farmers is stubble. Amarjot Singh Jandiala of Bhartiya Kisan Union said that in the rally, there will be a discussion about the water of Punjab. Water is not getting to its farmers, while water is being given to other states. Farmers are demanding water from the canals of Punjab, but the government is not listening. Therefore, in the rally, there will be a brainstorming on saving the water of Punjab and the next strategy will be decided.

Amarjot Singh said that farmers need manure for crops, but the government is not paying any attention to it. Subsidized fertilizers are not being provided to the farmers, which is affecting their work. Due to non-availability of fertilizers at the government level on subsidy, farmers have to buy fertilizers at expensive prices, due to which they are suffering financial loss.

Amarjot said that sugarcane is ready in the fields, but the government is keeping silent on running the Phagwara mill. The government does not intend to run the mill, so the government has already distributed the sugarcane quota to the nearby mills. Regarding the paddy crop, he said that the crop has been damaged in the fields due to rain, but the government has not got Girdawari done yet.
