Videos of the explosion have been shared on social media, in which many people have been shown lying on the ground amidst the damage caused by the blast. On social media, users said that the blast took place in Taksim Square.
In the footage, ambulance and police are seen reaching the spot. People are seen running in the video. Istiklal Street runs through the central district of Beyoglu, which is home to many foreign residents and is often visited by large numbers of tourists.

According to Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, the explosion occurred in central Istanbul on Sunday, injuring at least 11 people.
