Supreme Court reserves order in transfer and posting case in Delhi
The hearing on the dispute between the Center and the Delhi government regarding the posting and transfer rights of officers in Delhi was completed. The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court reserved the judgment on Wednesday. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud asked the Center and the Delhi government to file written submissions within two days after a five-day hearing. Earlier, the central government demanded to send the matter to a larger bench. Expressing surprise on this, the Constitution Bench said that no argument has been presented earlier on such a demand.

Singhvi said – this is a way of delaying the matter
Objecting to the Centre’s demand before the court, Delhi government’s counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi said- Such a picture is being presented here that the national capital is being hijacked. Parliament can make any law, but here it is a matter of notification regarding officers. This is a method of delaying the matter, which the central government is adopting.

Solicitor General said – the matter of the capital, so it should be sent to a larger bench
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the Centre, said – the matter pertains to the capital of the country. Therefore, it should be sent to a larger bench. History may not remind us that we had handed over the nation’s capital to complete anarchy, so delay in judgment on the part of the Supreme Court should not be the norm. On this the CJI said – when the hearing is about to be completed, how can such a demand be made? Why didn’t the Center debate on this earlier? After this, the court completed the hearing and reserved the verdict.
