A utensil shop in Indore’s utensil market is famous just because of its display. By the way, it is understood from the name that utensils must be sold in this market. But this market is also recognized in the whole city due to a special shop. In this shop, you will see many types of utensils decorated up to a height of 45 feet (three floors). Thousands of people come to buy utensils on Dhanteras. During this, they see the decoration of the shop and also take photos. The special thing is that this three-storey display of utensils remains like this throughout the year.
Let us tell you how this process of such decoration started in this shop…

The name of this shop is S Munim G & Sons. Its director is Surendra Mehta. Who is also the president of Indore Utensil Manufacturers and Sellers Association. In 1976, he started decorating his shop. Since then, the process of decorating the shop like this started. Surendra Mehta was 17 years old at that time. When he was in the sixth grade i.e. his age was 10 or 11 years old. Since then, he used to work as a cook at his father’s utensil shop. He told that earlier he lived in a joint family. The family members used to work at the bookkeeper’s shop in the pottery market. But around 1990, he opened his second shop S. Munim G & Sons in the utensils market itself. But the hobby of decoration continues even today.

Many people come to the market only to see the display of the shop.

This is that story of decoration
Surendra Mehta told that when he was 17 years old. Then many people used to go to the textile market to see the exhibition and lighting of the mills. Then this road used to act like a bridge for many people to go from Rajbara to the cloth market. People used to pass through the utensils market. But this market did not exist that much. At that time he thought that his market did not exist. People stayed here too, so they got the idea that why not decorate the shop in such a way that people stopped to watch. Due to this he decorated his shop. At that time, he decorated his shop on a small scale, but he decorated the shop in such a way that people passing by stopped and started looking at the shop. At that time, he had decorated about 25 feet with utensils.

Confidence increased when people stopped to watch
When people stopped outside his shop and started looking at the decorations, his confidence increased. He decided to enhance this decoration further. Since then, the process of decorating the shop started before Dhanteras and this decoration has also become an identity of his shop. Surendra Mehta says that this decoration has become the display of his shop. This decoration in his shop lasts throughout the year. They change it even before Dhanteras. Every year different decorations are done which lasts for the whole year.

Due to working in the company and being close to the owner, people started calling him bookkeeper. Since then he was known only by the name of Munim ji. After the closure of the factory, he started by selling utensils in the surrounding villages on bullock carts, carts. After this he put this shop in the utensil market. Utensils change in a year, it costs about three lakhs
He told that the estimated value of the utensils which are decorated is about three lakh rupees. Apart from this, 8 halogens have been installed in the decoration, which cost 25 thousand rupees. In this way, the shop is ready for about three and a half lakh rupees. After a year in the shop, these utensils are removed and new utensils are decorated.
