After the occupation of the Taliban, many countries also closed their embassies in Afghanistan. Although Pakistan has been a supporter of Taliban to some extent. In fact, on April 14, 2021, US President Joe Biden announced that the remaining 2,500-3,500 US troops in Afghanistan would be withdrawn by September 11. After which the Taliban started capturing most of the major cities of the country.

Taliban captured Afghanistan

The Taliban also captured Kabul in August 2021 after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. The economy of an already weak Afghanistan had collapsed overnight. Thousands of civilians fled the country after the capture of the Taliban. Then suicide bombers and gunmen from the Islamic State group attacked a crowd gathered at Kabul’s airport, killing more than 170 people. There was a shortage of food in the country, there were no medicines, schools were also closed.

Many countries sent help

Taliban leaders initially indicated they would be more liberal than their previous time in power, but the Taliban have taken decisions such as curtailing women’s rights, imposing greater controls on the press. Many countries including India sent help to Afghanistan, then the situation in the country has started getting better. However, no country has yet recognized the Talibani regime.
