Terrorist attack on Shia pilgrimage site in Iran, 15 killed


Iran Terrorist Attack: Fifteen people have died in a terrorist attack in the city of Shiraz, Iran. Al Arabiya, citing state media reports, said gunmen opened fire on worshipers at a holy site for Shia Muslims in the Iranian city of Shiraz on Wednesday (October 26). In this attack 15 people died and more than 10 people were injured.

According to media reports, three armed men entered the pilgrimage site in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz on Wednesday evening and started firing. Two of the attackers have been arrested and efforts are on to arrest the third. Tasnim news agency said the attackers were “takfiri” (a reference to Sunni extremists). Who carried out the attack by taking advantage of the ongoing unrest in the country.

Demonstrations continue in Iran

In fact, the anti-government protests that have erupted since the death of 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in police custody on September 16 have shook Iran. According to rights groups, more than 200 protesters have been killed and thousands have been arrested. People around the world have come out in support of Mahsa Amini and criticized the Iranian government. According to media reports, Iranian security forces also opened fire on the protesters on Wednesday. Thousands of people demonstrated collectively in Mahsa Amini’s hometown 40 days after her death.
