After about 70 years, 8 leopards were brought to India from foreign land.

The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the deaths of 3 African cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park within two months. Keeping in view the safety of cheetahs, the court has asked the Center to rise above politics and consider shifting them to Rajasthan. The court has also directed the Wildlife Expert Committee to suggest the Cheetah Task Force within 15 days.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Sanjay Karol said the expert report suggested that Kuno does not have enough space and resources for a large population of cheetahs, so the central government should consider shifting the cheetahs to another park or sanctuary.

Why not shifting the cheetahs to Rajasthan: SC

Court asked- Why don’t you search for a place in Rajasthan? Simply because there is an opposition party ruling. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for the Centre, said that the Cheetah Task Force is probing the cause of death and aspects of shifting it to the second century.

To this, the court said- We are not doubting the intention of the government, but are worried about the newspapers not paying attention to the reports of cheetah experts, in which they are warning the Center to create more than one habitat for cheetahs.
