Contract worker warning to set himself on fire by pouring petrol on himself by boarding a bus if outsourced recruitment is stopped and not restored.
Outsourced recruitment is being strongly opposed by the Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, PRTC Contract Workers Union outside the Chandigarh Bus Depot of PUNBUS. Contract workers’ protest continues in Chandigarh. Some workers have poured petrol on themselves by boarding buses and threatened to set themselves on fire by the department not to stop the process of outsourced recruitment. Efforts are being made by the concerned departmental officers and the police to convince the contract employees. The union is also appealing to the employees not to take any wrong step.

Demand for reinstatement of employees fired from punbus
The union is appealing to the government that the contract employees have been fired by condition, even though they have been working in the department for 10 years. The union has raised the demand to stop outsourcing recruitment along with reinstatement of employees. The employees are apprehensive that the way for their reinstatement will be closed if the department has outsourced recruitment.

The protest against outsourced recruitment was started from Kharar, where the employees climbed on the water tank. The road closure was planned at various places by the Punjab Roadways Punbus PRTC Contract Workers Union.
