The mountains of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand received snowfall on the second day on Saturday as well. The season’s first snowfall occurred in Uttarakhand’s Dhanaulti. Snow storm warning has been issued in 12 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Chameli, Jashimath and Badrinath in Uttarakhand also received snowfall. Four highways, 245 roads are closed in Himachal Pradesh due to snowfall. The northern plain states are in the grip of cold wave.

In the capital Delhi, on January 17 and 18, the minimum temperature can go around 3 degrees. At the same time, in Rajasthan, the mercury fell by about 2 degree Celsius in a single day. It was minus 4 degrees in Mount Abu, while it was minus 3.5 degrees in Fatehpur.

Delhi: Mercury can go around 3 degrees on Tuesday

In the social media, Delhi’s mercury going below zero has been called a rumor by the IMD. On Saturday, the capital’s temperature was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, on January 17 and 18, the minimum temperature of Ridge and Ayanagar can go around 3 degrees. Today, the minimum temperature of Delhi can be up to 7 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature can be up to 17 degree Celsius.

The season of severe winter has started again in the state. The cold winds which have been blowing continuously since the last two days brought down the day and night temperature. The night temperature dropped to 12 degree Celsius in Fatehpur, Churu. Mount Abu recorded minus 4 degrees Celsius, while Fatehpur recorded minus 3.5 degrees, down from 11.6 degrees in a single night. Apart from this, it was minus 0.7 degree in Churu. In the last 24 hours, the night temperature in nine cities was recorded below 5 degrees.

According to the Mass Department, till January 18, yellow and orange alerts of cold wave have been issued in one and a half dozen districts. During this period Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Nagair and Pali will experience severe cold due to strong cold wave. Read full news…

Himachal: Snowfall worsens, minus 6.2 minimum temperature recorded in Keylong

Snowfall continues in the higher reaches of Kullu, Chamba, Mandi, Sirmaur, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti including Hills Queen Shimla. A white sheet of snow was also seen on Mall Road, Jakhu hills of Shimla in the morning. The mercury in the higher regions has gone into minus. Shimla received 3 to 4 inches of snowfall. Due to snowfall, 245 roads including NH have been closed. Keylong in the state recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius. Narkanda recorded -4.8, Kukumasri -4.2 and Kufri -1.2 as the minimum temperature.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will be clear for three days. There are chances of rain and snowfall again on 18th and 19th. There may have been less rain and snowfall, but it will act as a tonic for the agriculture, horticulture and tourism industry of the state.
