Efforts are on to bring Afghan Sikhs to India with the help of the Government of India and the Air Force.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the ban imposed by the Taliban government on the sending of Sri Guru Granth Sahib out of Afghanistan. After this incident, SGPC Principal Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has also demanded the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs in this matter. He has called it the interference of the Taliban government in religious matters.

It is worth mentioning that since the bomb blast in Karte Parwan Gurdwara and target killing of Sikhs, the Government of India is giving e-visa to Sikhs living in Afghanistan. At the same time, for some time, the Taliban government has also been appealing to Sikhs and Hindus to return to Afghanistan, citing the calm atmosphere. Meanwhile, on September 11, 60 Afghan Sikhs were to come to India. He was also bringing Sri Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan with him. But Afghanistan stopped carrying Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other religious texts. After which even 60 Sikhs could not fly to India.

Afghan culture ministry banned

The Afghan Ministry of Culture refused to allow religious texts to go out of Afghanistan. The Afghan Foreign Ministry is adamant that religious texts cannot be allowed to be taken out of Afghanistan until an official confirmation letter is received from the Afghan Ministry of Culture and Information.

Sikhs are not safe in Afghanistan

SGPC chief Dhami has condemned the Taliban government’s ban on sending the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other Sikh scriptures out of Afghanistan. They say that Sikhs are not safe in Afghanistan, that is why they are migrating from there. Not only this, on the one hand, Sikh Gurudwaras are being attacked in Afghanistan and on the other hand, stopping the transport of religious texts is directly interfering in the religious affairs of the Sikhs.

SGPC chief Dhami asked who would take care of Sikh religious texts after the exodus of Sikhs from Afghanistan. He said that the Taliban government in Afghanistan should not take decisions against the sentiments of the Sikhs. He has appealed to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in this matter.
