In a conversation with ABP News, DCP Balsingh Rajput of Crime Branch Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police told that this gang monitors people on social media, the special thing is that all the people in this gang are educated only till 10-12.
Cases increased in the last two years
These people make a direct video call at night after a conversation and if someone picks up the call, they will see the video of the nude woman you are watching and they will record such a video and send it to you. Starts charging money. Rajput told that the cases of sextortion have increased in the last two years. According to statistics, in the year 2021, 54 such cases were registered, out of which 33 people were arrested in 24 cases. Out of these 24 cases, 4 cases were such in which an amount of more than 10 lakh was recovered from the Victim.
At the same time, in the year 2022, a total of 77 cases were registered, out of which 52 people were arrested in 30 cases and out of these 77 cases, in 22 cases, the accused had recovered more than 10 lakhs from the Victim. In all the sextortion cases reported in India, especially in Mumbai, the callers are either from Bharatpur, Alwar (Rajasthan), Mewat (Haryana) or Jharkhand.
Recovery of 51 lakhs from the trader
Sources said that recently a case has come to their notice, in which a 71-year-old businessman living in Western Mumbai has sextorted Rs 51 lakh from this gang. In this case, the police is looking for the accused. The police is preparing a complete plan to nab all such gangs. Along with this, people are also being advised not to fall in this trap.
