There can be punishment for selling phulki and chaat in Mandla district of MP. At present, the collector has banned it from selling. This is probably the first time in the state that not only making and selling phulki, but also the sale of its ingredients has been banned. The administration had to take this strictness when in two days 115 people fell ill due to food poisoning after eating phulki. However, except one serious patient, the condition of all is now said to be out of danger.

From Mandla district headquarters to half a dozen villages of Chiraidongri area, Golgappa created a ruckus. The process of food poisoning patients started coming to the district hospital from Saturday evening, which continued till Sunday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon, the number of sick had crossed a hundred. The administration swung into action and started action on the basis of inquiries from the people.

In fact, after eating phulki from two brothers selling phulki by hawking in Radhakrishnan ward and Sardar Patel ward of Mandla district headquarters and Chiraidongri area of Narayanganj block, including Mangalganj, Kondra, Sahjani, Lalpur, Bhawal, 57 children and 2 pregnant women. About 115 people became victims of food poisoning. Those who are getting treatment in District Hospital and Narayanganj Health Center. In this, 1 child is in a critical condition, who has been referred to the medical college of Jabalpur.
The accused do seasonal business
After the incident, the administration showed strictness and as per the reports of the people who got sick from eating phulki, the makers of phulki were searched. In which it was found that for about 15-20 years 6-7 families are living on the land of farmer Hiralal behind a petrol pump who are originally residents of Jalaun Uttar Pradesh. They roam all over the district and do seasonal business of phulki, ice cream etc. The landlord did not give any information regarding these in the police station. During interrogation, no identity card was found with the landlord.

At the same time, it has been told that after the treatment, the health of all the patients is now improving. Three patients have also been discharged from the Community Health Center.

Yunus Mansoori, father of Zakir, aged 20 years, who sold phulkis in Mandla Nagar, and the youth who sold phulkis in Chiraidongri, have been identified as Yusuf’s father, Zakir Hussain, aged 19, both residents of district Jalaun UP. After bringing them to the police station for interrogation, Yusuf told that citric-acid has been added to the phulki for sourness, people probably got sick from it. The shop selling the citric-acid has been sealed as the expiry date is not mentioned.

Chaat phulki banned in the district
Orders have been issued by the administration to ban Chaat Phulki in the district till the investigation process is completed. Along with this, while jointly taking action by the Revenue, Food and Police Department, action is being taken against the landlord and the phulki people as per rules. Sampling of all the phulki makers was done. An FIR was lodged by the department at the Kotwali police station.
