Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launching the WhatsApp number to give information about getting rid of the possession of Panchayati land.
The Punjab government has claimed to have discovered a total of 26,300 acres of benami land from 2,000 villages. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the market value of this land is Rs 9200 crore. He described this land as cultivable, which till date was neither in the records of the Punjab Government nor in the documents of the department there is any mention of it. He told that at many places this land is at prime location. The concerned department has decided to get the entire land out of possession by December 31, 2023 and hand it over to the Punjab government.
Action is to be taken in 67 blocks now
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said during the press conference that the concerned department has achieved this feat in 7 months. Till now 86 blocks have been completed, whereas Punjab has total 153 blocks and BDO offices. He also talked about unearthing a lot of benami land from the rest of the block. Told that the campaign to get rid of the possession of Panchayati land was started from May 1. Now the second phase of this campaign is being started.
Government will get benefit of crores of rupees
Kuldeep Dhaliwal described this campaign to get rid of Panchayati land as the first massive action in the history of the country. He said that due to lack of knowledge of this land, the Punjab government could never even give it on contract. But if this land is given on contract, then the government will earn crores of rupees from it.
will give land to gram panchayats
Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the entire land being freed from possession will be given to the Gram Panchayats for development, so that schools, hospitals, stadiums etc. can be built there. This will increase the income of the government.
Plantation will be done on the land that is not on contract
In order to improve the environment, plantation will be done in the land which will not be given on contract to the Punjab government. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that no one is being harassed to get the land released.

Kia WhatsApp number issued for information Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that many NRIs had called him and informed him that there was benami land in his villages. He issued a WhatsApp number (91151-16262) from the people of Punjab to convey information about such land to the government. On this number people will be able to give information about any benami land.
