The salary of Delhi MLAs has increased by 66%. The President has approved the proposal to increase the salary, pension and allowances of the MLAs before the budget session. He will now get a salary of Rs 90 thousand per month instead of Rs 54 thousand. If allowances are included, then the MLAs will now get Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand every month.

The Department of Law, Justice and Legislative Affairs, Government of Delhi has given information in this regard by issuing a notification.

On July 4 last year, the Delhi Assembly passed a bill and sent a proposal to increase the salary to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

President approved on February 14
The proposal to increase salary, pension and allowances was passed in the Delhi Assembly in July last year. Delhi Government had sent a proposal to increase the salary of CM, Minister, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Speaker and Leader of Opposition. The President had approved this proposal on 14 February. MLAs will now get increased salary from 14 February 2023.

Salary of Delhi MLAs increased after 12 years
The salary of MLAs in Delhi has been increased after 12 years. The basic salary of MLAs has been increased from 20 thousand to 30 thousand. The daily allowance has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500. Earlier, the MLAs used to get 72 thousand rupees every month including allowances and salary.

Salary of MLAs in Telangana is 20 thousand, but allowance is 2.3 lakh rupees

  • In Telangana, the MLAs get a salary of Rs 20,000, but along with it they get a Constituency Allowance of Rs 2.3 lakh.
  • In Himachal Pradesh, MLAs get Rs 55,000 salary, Rs 90,000 constitution allowance, Rs 1,800 daily allowance, Rs 15,000 telephone allowance and Rs 30,000 secretarial allowance.
  • In Kerala, the MLAs get a salary of only Rs 2,000 and a constitution allowance of Rs 25,000.
  • In Andhra Pradesh, the MLAs get a salary of Rs 12,000 and a constitution allowance of Rs 1.13 lakh.
