In Delhi’s Nikki Yadav murder case, the police has arrested 5 people including the father of the accused Sahil Gehlot. All have been accused of helping the accused. According to police sources, in October 2020, Sahil married Nikki at the Arya Samaj temple in Noida, but the family of the accused was not happy with their marriage. The police have also recovered the certificates related to the marriage of Sahil and Nikki.
Sahil’s family hid the marriage
Police say that the family of the accused had prior knowledge about Sahil and Nikki’s marriage. Despite this, he fixed Sahil’s marriage in December 2022 somewhere else. It was also hidden from the girl’s family that Sahil was already married.
Special CP Ravinder Yadav told news agency ANI that Sahil’s father Virender Singh knew that his son had killed Nikki. Sahil’s friend and cousin had helped the accused in hiding Nikki’s body in the fridge.
Sahil first murdered Nikki, then married with pomp
Earlier on Thursday, the police had revealed that a day before Nikki was strangled to death on February 10, Sahil had returned after getting engaged to a girl of his family’s choice. On the day of the murder, he went back to his home and got married with pomp. There was not even a wrinkle on her face during the marriage. It did not appear that he had murdered a girl some time ago.
The murder came to light on February 14, when Nikki’s neighbor in Uttam Nagar informed the police about her missing. Sahil’s name came up in the police investigation and Nikki’s body was recovered from his dhaba in the investigation.

According to the police, 24-year-old Sahil Gehlot had a lot of fun, danced with friends at his engagement on February 9. After the engagement function was over, he reached Nikki’s house at around 1 am (February 10) with his cousin’s car. Nikki’s sister was also present there. At around 5 in the morning, Sahil reached Nizamuddin railway station with Nikki.
Nikki was going to Goa. His train was at 7:30 in the morning. He also asked Sahil to accompany him, but he made an excuse of not getting the ticket. Then both of them suddenly made a plan to go to Himachal. Both reached Anand Vihar bus station, but here they came to know that the bus would meet at Kashmere Gate. Both of them went to Kashmiri Gate from there. Sahil was getting calls continuously.
According to media reports, the police further told that Sahil was to get married on February 10 itself, so his family members were calling him continuously. When Nikki came to know about this, a fight started between the two. At around 9 am, Sahil strangulated Nikki with a data cable inside the car in Kashmere Gate area itself. He died there.
After this, Sahil made Nikki’s body sit on the front seat, put on the seat belt and took her to his dhaba in South Delhi’s Mitraon village, 35 km away via Paschim Vihar from Kashmere Gate area. Seeing the opportunity here, he hid Nikki’s body in the boot of the car and from there went to his home to attend his wedding.

After the completion of the wedding rituals, when his family members were sleeping at night, around 3.30 am, he reached the dhaba with another car to dispose of Nikki’s dead body. Police say that he was planning to throw the dead body in a river.
He first took the body out of the car and took it to the fridge of the dhaba. Nikki’s bag was kept near the fridge. Sahil takes out her mobile phone and deletes the data from it. Sahil also deleted all the data related to Nikki from his phone.
He had stored Nikki’s dead body in the same fridge kept in Sahil’s dhaba. According to reports, he started this dhaba only three weeks ago.
Murder revealed after four days
The police came to know about this murder on February 14, when one of Nikki’s neighbors filed a missing report. The matter came to light when the police found her boyfriend Sahil. The police is scanning the CCTV footage of all the places where Sahil has mentioned in his confession. Police have recovered Nikki’s phone and are trying to extract WhatsApp chats and photos of both.
The police had arrested Sahil on 15 February. He is under interrogation.
Marry or stay with girlfriend, Sahil was confused
Police said that during interrogation, Sahil told that he was unable to decide what to do. Should he marry according to the family or stay with girlfriend Nikki Yadav, but something else is visible in his engagement and wedding photo-video. He looks very happy dancing in all the functions of his marriage. Police say that to strengthen the case, they will have to collect strong CCTV footage, technical evidence including forensic investigation.
