The matter of repair of Government Girls Higher Secondary School has confused the officials of PWD. A few days ago, MLA Rakesh Giri Goswami had performed Bhoomipujan of construction works worth Rs 58 lakh for the repair of Girls Higher Secondary School. The PWD had also given instructions for repairing, but did not issue tenders as per the rules.
When the MLA came to know about this, he expressed his displeasure. Now PWD has started the process of tendering. PWD EE RK Vishwakarma says that in view of the safety of the girl students, the repair work was started, there is no such thing as ignoring the rules. For the construction works, only proper tender will be floated. Only after that the construction work will start. However, it may take some time for this process to start working.
what is the whole matter
The classes of the Girls Higher Secondary School were being held in the old building of the Rajshahi era built in the Nazarbagh campus. The education department did not repair the building and gradually it became dilapidated. After this the Girls Higher Secondary School was shifted to the vacant building of ITI, but the building of ITI is also very old. There have also been accidents due to the falling of the cement sheet above the class room. In view of this, Directorate of Public Instruction had approved Rs 26 lakh 22 thousand and Collector Subhash Kumar Dwivedi had approved Rs 35 lakh from mineral fund for repairing. After the approval of the amount, a week ago, MLA Rakesh Giri had performed bhoomi pujan for repairing and construction of a new building.
Repair work of old building stuck
For about 50 years, the girls’ school operated in the building built in the Rajshahi era located in Nazarbagh. The date was declared 2 years ago and it was vacated. The district administration had talked about repairing the old building. The building is getting worse due to lack of repairs.
