Due to the continuous increase in the water level of Rapti river in Siddharthnagar, a dozen villages have been turned into ponds. The life line of the flood-affected village is at a standstill on Shahpur-Singrajot road. The connectivity of Betnar, Pikoura and Veerpur Kohal has been cut off from the main road. There is no way to reach these villages. In the name of relief and rescue, only the administration has provided the boat. The paddy crop has sunk in the field. Due to which the risk of crop rot is increasing.

Due to the continuous increase in the water level of Rapti, the situation is becoming dangerous due to floods in Bhanwapur and Dumariaganj areas. Due to the rise in water level, the situation has gone from bad to worse in Virpur Ghaznijot, Dalmirdih, Bitharia, Pikoura, Budhiya Tyre, Bharwathia, Bhainshia, Mahua Khurd, Bamdei, Kohal, Madhukarpur Choubey, Pedariyajit, Tenui, Malda, Betnar, Bilaria. Birpur Kohal, Ehtmali and Pikoura have lost their connectivity with the main road. More than a dozen villages are seen turning into islands.

Administration not taking positive steps
Sumiran, Moinuddin, Dilshad, Govind told that till now the administration has not taken any positive step in the direction of relief and rescue. The water of the booming Rapti river in the town has been filled up to the Khera Mandi. The Nagar Panchayat constructed an incomplete drain for drainage at the cost of lakhs, which is pushing the water of the overflowing river into the town. Five villages east of Dumariaganj are also surrounded by floods. About 10 thousand population of Seramjhari, Kohaldih, Jangaldih, Bangai Nankar, Sukrauli are in panic due to floods.

The power station at Nebua was submerged due to the rise in the water level of Rapti river and the supply of 6 feeders came to a standstill at 11:49 am on Tuesday. The supply of Tahar, Khantara, Bharatbhari, Tilgadia, Dumariaganj town and villager was stopped. Executive Engineer Rammurat said that alternative arrangements have been made for supply from Bhanupar. Delivery schedule will be fixed according to the load received.

Dozens of farmers from the villages of Bhadaria, Ghaznijot, Bithriya, Pikoura, etc. located in Cachar, used to maintain their livelihood by cultivating vegetables by putting a hut on the banks of the Rapti river along with the family. The havoc of the flood has ruined all their dreams this time. Bharwathia’s Mukim, Idrish, Narendra, Ghanshyam, Puran etc. told that due to lack of land property, they used to earn livelihood by farming on the banks of the river, everything was snatched away.

State in-charge of Hiuva Raghavendra Pratap Singh reached Bharwathia Mustahkam on Tuesday after receiving information about flood water filling in various gram panchayats of Dumariaganj tehsil. Along with providing necessary help to the people, he distributed biscuits to the children. Said that the government is with you. Any loss caused will be compensated. He and the Yogi government are ready in the service of the poor. In case of any problem, the gates of Hindu Bhavan are open 24 hours for all.

SDM Kunal informed that 6 motorboats and 20 boats have been arranged for the convenience of the flood-hit village. Under surveillance, duty of Tehsildar Arun Kumar Verma, EO Nagar Panchayat, Naib Tehsildar and all Lekhpals were imposed. We are also in touch with Balrampur district. There is a problem with floods, but we are trying to reduce the suffering of the affected people.
