Railways bagged by freight, earned ₹ 92,345 crore till October this year


Indian Railway Earnings From Freight Loading Jumps : Indian Railways, working as the country’s largest transporter, has earned a handsome income from freight transportation. Let us tell you that in the current financial year 2022-23 till the month of October, the revenue of railways has increased by 17 percent as compared to the previous year.

Giving information, Indian Railways said that the freight traffic of the Railways for the first 7 months of the financial year 2022-23 has exceeded the previous year’s loading and earnings figures for the same period. Railway has achieved a freight loading of 855.63 Metric on a cumulative basis during April to October 2022. Which was 786.2 metric tonnes of shipments last year. Which is about 9 percent more than last year’s shipments. The Railways earned Rs 92,345 crore this year as against Rs 78,921 crore last year, which is 17 percent more.

13,353 crore revenue
Railways has achieved an initial freight loading of 118.94 MT in the month of October as against 117.34 MT in the previous year, registering a growth of 1.4 per cent. In October 2021, a revenue of Rs 13,353 crore was achieved against freight revenue of Rs 12,313 crore this year. There has been an improvement of eight percent.

What is ‘Hungry for Cargo’ scheme
While releasing the data, Indian Railways said that ‘Hungry for Cargo – After the introduction of the Hungry for Cargo scheme, freight is being transported. In which there has been good profit in income. This success has been achieved through customer centric strategy and collaboration with Business Development Units.
