The SIT, headed by ADGP LK Yadav, is interrogating former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal in the October 2015 Kotkapura shooting case. The SIT members reached Parkash Singh Badal’s residence in Chandigarh at 11 am and since then he is being questioned. The round of questioning will continue till around 1:30 pm. Earlier, the SIT had also questioned former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal. This is the first time after 6 months of the formation of the AAP government, when former CM Parkash Singh Badal is being questioned.
Sukhbir Badal said AAP is doing politics instead of justice
On September 14, in the same case, the SIT led by ADGP LK Yadav had questioned SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal for nearly six hours. After this Sukhbir Badal had said that earlier the Congress and now the AAP government is doing politics instead of getting justice in such cases. Badal had called the police action a part of a prescribed process, diverting attention from the party’s failure on the AAP government.
New SIT constituted on the orders of High Court
The Punjab and Haryana High Court, while quashing the investigation report of IG Kunwar Pratap, ordered the government to constitute a new SIT. Then the then Congress government formed the SIT under the chairmanship of ADGP LK Yadav.
SIT took stock of the spot
On Tuesday, the SIT visited the main square of Kotkapura and took stock of the incident again. During this, SIT member and Moga SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana had obtained information from the witnesses.
Police investigation continues even after 7 years
The police investigation is going on even after a lapse of seven years in the Kotkapura shooting incident. Earlier this incident was investigated under the supervision of the then IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and after his investigation, a challan was presented in the court against Mantar Singh Brar, the then Akali Dal MLA of Kotkapura, including police officers.
