Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit today visited the border areas of Amritsar and Tarn Taran and also met people at Guru Nanak Dev University. After the meeting, Governor Purohit lashed out against the illegal miners. He also targeted the police and clearly said that the nexus between the criminals and the police needs to be broken.

Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit appealed to the people and sarpanches of the border belt of Amritsar and Tarn Taran to cooperate in stopping the smuggling of weapons and heroin from across the border. During this, he also drew everyone’s attention to the illegal mining happening on the border. The Governor said that it is not a big deal to eliminate drug and arms smuggling and illegal mining if people want.

Illegal mining a threat to national security

Governor Purohit termed illegal mining on the border as a big threat to the country during this period. He said that if anyone does illegal mining on the border, then a case of sedition should be registered against him. He said that the Punjab Government should form Civil Defense Committees in 6 outskirts districts, which should work on social issues in their respective areas.

Asked people to join Agneepath scheme

During this, the Governor also appealed to the youth of Punjab to join the Agneepath scheme announced for the country’s army. He said that all the youth who served in Agneepath during the Punjab year would follow the discipline and education of the army. This will make the future of the youth bright. After this five years of service, the youth will also be selected in the permanent service of the army. Others will serve in other companies in the country.
