Punjab government to hire aircraft: Tender called for aircraft with 8-10 seating capacity; Helicopter with the government at present

Punjab government is going to hire an aircraft for VIP visit. The government has also called tenders for this. Aircraft with 8-10 seating capacity will be hired by the government for one year at present. The Civil Aviation Department has sought quotations for this. Earlier, the Punjab government has a helicopter with 4-5 seating capacity.

Opposition started siege

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dr. Daljit Cheema said that this would waste the money of the state exchequer. Congress and BJP leaders have also opposed this decision of the government. The aircraft to be hired by the Punjab government is being said to be an expensive proposition.

If the Punjab government hires a fixed wing aircraft, then its per hour cost will be Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. Because the Air Charter Facility Grantor aircraft is located in Delhi and Mumbai. For this reason, Punjab will have to pay additional expenses for the aircraft arrangement. The government had recently got the bid from Air Charter Facility Grantor through a tender call. The five-seater, twin-engine Bell 429 helicopter currently used for VIP use in Punjab was purchased in 2012 at a cost of around Rs 38 crore.
