Morbi Bridge Collapsed: A cable suspension bridge on the Machu river collapsed in Gujarat’s Morbi city, killing 134 people so far. US President Joe Biden expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. He said that he stands with India in difficult times. More than 100 people injured in the accident are undergoing treatment.
The more than a century old bridge was reopened to the public five days ago after extensive repairs and renovations. However, due to the excessive number of people on the bridge, the bridge collapsed and so far more than 130 people have died in the accident. Today PM Modi will also go to Morbi to meet the families of the injured and the dead.

Biden said about this accident, “Today our heart is with India. The whole of America is with the people of Gujarat in their grief and expresses deep condolences to the families who lost their loved ones due to the bridge collapse. The US and India are indispensable partners, our citizens share a deep bond. We will stand by and continue to support Indians in this difficult time.”
The relatives of the deceased will get compensation

Prime minister Narendra Modi The Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured. At the same time, the Gujarat government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
