The BJP, which is trying to make inroads in Punjab, is preparing for a big change. In which important responsibility will be given to former Congress ministers including Sunil Jakhar from Congress. Head Ashwani Sharma can also be replaced. His 3-year term ends in January. However, in view of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the party is being reshuffled in the month of September itself.

Poor performance in Vis election
The BJP had a weak performance in the last vis election. BJP contested 73 seats out of 117 but could win only 2 seats. The party got only 6.6% of the vote. Out of 73, 54 candidates got forfeited their deposits. For this reason, there is a demand for change of leadership within the party.
BJP will fight alone on 13 Lok Sabha seats
In Punjab, the BJP had an alliance with the Akali Dal earlier. Out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, BJP used to contest on only 3 seats. This time BJP will field its candidates on all the seats. For this, BJP wants to bring big faces forward in Punjab. Who can become the party’s credible face in Punjab and can break the atmosphere created against the BJP.
Many veteran Congressmen came to Punjab BJP
Many veteran Congressmen recently joined the BJP in Punjab. In which apart from Sunil Jakhar, the names of former ministers Balbir Sidhu, Rajkumar Verka, Gurpreet Kangar and Sham Sundar Arora are included. Apart from this, Fatehjung Bajwa and Rana Gurmeet Sodhi have also joined BJP earlier.
