When the police reached the spot, the police recovered 18 cows from the vehicle. Out of which 11 were alive while 7 had died. The police and cow protectors sent the living cow lineage to the cowshed while the dead cow lineage was given samadhi. Earlier, the police searched for the absconding cow smugglers but they managed to escape.

More than a dozen cases are registered against the cow smuggler Jackam, who was arrested after the encounter late on Thursday evening. Jackum is used to cow smuggling and animal cruelty. Cases have been registered against him for cow smuggling, cattle smuggling, gangster act, attempt to murder, drug smuggling and illegal arms possession. Police had registered a case against Jackum under Section 3/5/8 Cow Slaughter Act.
