PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Cancer Hospital in Punjab today: Mohali; There was a security lapse last time, now strict arrangements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on Punjab tour today. He will inaugurate Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center at New Chandigarh Mullanpur. It has been built by the Central Government at a cost of 660 crores. This hospital with a capacity of 300 beds will be equipped with modern facilities related to cancer treatment.

There was a security lapse during the last visit of the Prime Minister. So this time tight security arrangements have been made. The area around the hospital has been sealed. The Punjab Police outside and the Special Protection Group (SPG) inside have taken over the security.

2 km area sealed, drone banned
In view of the security of PM Narendra Modi, 2 km area around the hospital has been sealed. Section 144 has been declared as a no fly zone in the area. No outsider is allowed to enter the hospital without a valid pass.

First visit in AAP government, security lapse occurred during Congress
This is the first visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Earlier, he had come to Ferozepur on 5 January. Due to the jam of the farmers there, his convoy was stopped near the Pakistan border. After staying on the flyover for about 15 minutes, he canceled the tour and returned. After which the lapse in his security was revealed. Then there was the Congress government in Punjab. The then CM Charanjit Channi made fun of him instead of accepting the security lapse. In the subsequent Vis elections, Channi was defeated by 2 seats despite being the CM face of Congress.

Arrangements made for cancer patients inside the hospital.

300 beds capacity in the hospital
Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital has a capacity of 300 beds. In this, OPD of Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Preventive Oncology, Anesthesia has been started. Apart from this, modern facilities like MRI, CT, Mammography, Digital Radiography, are also available here. The center also offers chemotherapy for biopsy and superficial surgery and day care for minor OTs.

Modern machines installed inside the hospital for cancer treatment

6 states will get benefit
According to the managers, this hospital will be completely ready in 6 months. All its 300 beds will be operational. With this, not only Punjab but also the patients of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan will get world class cancer treatment.

Last time the PM had canceled the tour midway due to security lapse. After which he returned to Delhi.
