Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, chairman of NGT (National Green Tribunal) in Kapurthala, Punjab, has said that Sant Seechewal model has to be made accessible to every household and people to avoid contamination of air, water and environment. People themselves have to become a voice for the environment being polluted. Only then can the coming generation get clean water and clean air.
He reached Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab today to attend a seminar held at Sant Seechewal Nirmal Kutiya on the banks of holy Kali Bay. Justice Goyal also said that the governments have completely failed to stop the environment from getting polluted. He expressed concern that people were falling prey to diseases due to the impurity of air, water and food. Justice Goyal said that clean environment is the right of human life.

Referring to the environmental compensation of Rs 2080 crore to the Punjab government, Justice Goyal said that this is not a fine but to compensate for the damage caused to the environment. This amount of compensation will be spent on improving the environment. He also clarified that this is not a fine but a way of making the state governments aware.
National Green Tribunal (NGT) Chairperson Justice AK Goel today said that sewage water from industries and sewage from towns, cities and villages is polluting not only our holy river Ganga but all the rivers of the country.
