Arshad Sharif Killed: Senior Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif died allegedly due to bullet injuries in Nairobi city of Kenya. This was confirmed by his wife Javeria Siddiqui in the early hours of Monday. Siddiqui said on his official Twitter handle, “I lost friend, husband and my favorite journalist Arshad today, according to police he was shot in Kenya.”
Police started investigation
According to ARY News, the police in Kenya has started investigation into Sharif’s murder. The 49-year-old journalist had worked in various newsrooms of the country and was awarded the Pride of Performance by President Arif Alvi in March 2019. Arshad leaves behind his wife and five children.

Earlier this year, sedition cases were filed against three journalists – Arshad Sharif, Sabir Shakir and Sami Ibrahim. Similar cases were registered against journalists in several districts of Sindh and Balochistan. The FIR lodged by the residents of these districts alleged that the journalists were inciting anti-national sentiments by defaming the Pakistan Army and state institutions. A case was registered against the then ARY news anchor Arshad Sharif at the B-section police station in Hyderabad.
Pak President expressed grief
There is a wave of mourning in Pakistan after the murder of Arshad Sharif. President Arif Alvi tweeted, “The passing of Arshad Sharif is a great loss for journalism and Pakistan. May his soul rest in peace and his family, including his support, may bear this loss.

Pakistan PM paid tribute
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also condoled the death of Arshad Sharif. He wrote on Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the shocking news of the tragic death of journalist Arshad Sharif. May Allah SWT give him a place in heaven. My deepest condolences and prayers to the bereaved family.”
