Nurse’s body covered with blanket in hostel room
Unknown assailants attacked two nurses with sharp weapons at the nursing hostel of Pearl Eyes and Maternity Home, a private hospital in Punjab’s Jalandhar city. In this attack, one nurse died on the spot, while the other nurse was seriously injured. The injured nurse has been admitted to a private hospital, where doctors have described the nurse’s condition as critical.
CIA and Crime Branch team reached the spot to investigate
The incident which took place at Sangha Chowk in Jalandhar is said to have happened around 2 pm on Wednesday. The nurse who was killed has been identified as Balwinder Kaur of Beas, district Amritsar, while the injured nurse’s name is Jyoti resident of Phagwara. Both were attacked on the roof of the hostel late in the night.
As soon as the information about the murder was received, there was panic in the hospital. The staff immediately ran towards the roof of the hostel and saw Balwinder and Jyoti lying in a pool of blood. When the staff checked, Balwinder had died, while Jyoti was unconscious. He was holding his breath. Police was informed.
Police recording statements of staff on the spot
The staff immediately admitted Jyoti to another private hospital located on Link Road after giving first aid at their hospital. Jyoti has many wounds from sharp weapons on her body and a lot of blood has also shed. Jyoti’s condition remains critical in the hospital. She is fighting a war between life and death.
Police of Police Station Division No. 6 reached the spot. The police found a broken piece of a sharp weapon from the spot. The police have also seized the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in and around the hospital. The police suspect that the killers did not go through the hospital to the nursing hostel, but had reached the nurses through the roof. After committing the murder, he also returned back through the same route.
The help of dog squad was also taken on the spot to trace the killers.
The nurse working in the hospital told that Jyoti’s health was not good on the previous day, so she did not come down to the hospital for work. Last night around 2 o’clock when another nurse went upstairs, she was blown away by what she saw. Both Jyoti and Balwinder were lying in a pool of blood. The hospital staff immediately informed the police.
