Preparation for Durga Puja in India
The Government of West Bengal has honored 99 Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata and adjoining areas with “Vishwa Bangla Sharad Samman-2022” awards. Several Durga Puja committees in Assam have used eco-friendly and recyclable materials in their pandals and idols this year.
Traditional bamboo remains the favorite as the raw material for the decoration of the pandals, while the naturally degrading material has been used in the making of the idol. Dhubri artist Sanjeev Basak has created single-use plastic utensils such as spoons and bowls. The idol of Mother Goddess is made using this.
