Nepal Elections: General elections are being held in the neighboring country Nepal today i.e. on Sunday. Polling is going on peacefully since morning. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli voted in Bhaktapur.
Talking to reporters after casting his vote, KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the government led by his party will be formed by December 1. He said that the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) UML would form a majority government or at least form a coalition government. KP Sharma Oli even went so far as to say that new parties would not be able to garner votes even to become national parties. Significantly, Oli is the candidate for the House of Representatives from Jhapa-5.

There are total 275 seats
There are a total of 275 seats in the Parliament of Nepal, out of which elections are being held on 165 seats under the First Past the Post (FPTP) system. A total of 2412 candidates are in the fray for these 165 seats, out of which 2187 are men and 225 are women. For the remaining 110 seats, members will be elected under the proportional representation system. At the same time, a total of 3224 candidates are in the fray for 330 seats in the provincial assembly, out of which 2943 are men and 280 are women.
According to the Election Commission of Nepal, a total of 1,79,88,570 voters are registered with the Election Commission. For whom 22,227 voting centers have been set up in 10,892 polling stations. A total of 141 temporary polling stations have been set up and approximately 450,000 temporary voters can cast their votes from their nearest polling stations.

Nepal Election Commission said that 246,960 officers and around 3 lakh security personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the election. The Election Commission (EC) has directed the election staff, security personnel, observers, monitoring team members or any person to inform the concerned authorities about any activity that may obstruct the election process.
