NATO Chief On Russia: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (September 30) took tough measures against Ukraine and announced the merger of four of its states with his country. This is being seen as Putin’s biggest action against Ukraine by Russia. Putin has also appointed heads of these states.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg strongly criticized Russia’s move. He has rejected the illegal annexation of Ukraine’s territories into Russia. The NATO chief said the Ukraine war has reached a turning point. Putin’s land grab is the most serious situation since the war began.
The Kremlin claimed that referendums were held in these states of Ukraine, in which 99 percent of the people voted in support of Moscow. The Kremlin had announced at that time that soon these areas would be merged with Russia.
EU refused to recognize
Before the NATO chief, EU leaders condemned Ukraine’s illegal annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions into Russia. Not only this, the leaders of the European Union also promised that they would never recognize these areas.
The European Council issued a statement saying that a body of leaders of 27 EU member states accused the Kremlin of endangering global security.
Biden administration took strict steps
At the same time, criticizing Russia’s move against Ukraine, the Biden administration also announced new US sanctions against Russia on Friday (September 30). Taking action on Russia, the US nominated 14 people and 278 members of Russia’s legislature in Russia’s military-industrial complex to try to implement a fake referendum there and annex sovereign Ukrainian territory. At the same time, the US State Department said in a press release that in its new actions, visas of 1000 people were banned.
