Due to the awareness of a mother, her son got a free operation. Atharv (11 months) of Teliarganj had both legs bent since birth. When the family members showed the doctor, after hearing the expensive treatment, people returned home, but the mother of the child decided that she would agree to the son’s operation. The mother posted this thing on Facebook and asked for suggestions from the people. People gave information about clubfoot. Someone told that such operation (RBSK) is free of cost under the National Child Health Program. The parents reached Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital the next day. Atharva got treated there in a few days. He now stands on the wall and walks like a normal child.
Successful surgery of 17 children
National Child Health Program nodal Nisha Sonkar says that from April 2022 to June, 8222 children were identified. In this, 7593 children were treated for common ailments while 17 children were successfully operated upon. Orthopedic surgeons attend to children suffering from clubfoot by setting up OPD at Calvin every Thursday and Bailey Hospital on Saturdays.
63 children are undergoing treatment
Vikrant Biswas, District Program Officer, Miracle Feet Foundation said that under the National Health Mission, under the National Health Mission, a sister organization of the National Child Health Program, is running the Miracle Club Foot Clinic to ensure that children do not suffer from disability. Their team marks the children in the Anganwadi center and school. At present, 64 club feet children are being treated at Mandal Hospital Motilal Nehru (Calvin) and 63 club feet at Tej Bahadur Sapru Chikitsalaya (Bailey).
