Rural Development Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday regarding the development of road infrastructure in the border region of Punjab. Minister Dhaliwal said that on behalf of the Union Transport Ministry, two important roads in the border areas of Amritsar district have been approved for construction and upgradation.

Minister Dhaliwal said that construction of Gulgad road from Ghonwala Ramdas Road near Dhusi Ban near Ravi Dariya and development of Ajnala-Fatehgarh Chudiyan-Ramdas road in border block Ajnala has been approved under the Central Road Fund. He said that due to non-development of both these roads, the development of about 100 villages in the area was stalled.

He said that in the meeting, approval has been given by the Union Minister Gadkari to develop roads between Ajnala and three villages Awan, Gaggowal and Thoba under rehabilitation. Whose funds have been assured to be released within a week. He assured that projects to develop other roads of the state would be considered on a first-come-first-served basis.
