Sheikh Hasina is on a visit to India from September 5 to September 8. During this, 7 agreements related to defence, trade, railways and water management can be signed between the two countries.

The meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has ended. PM Modi and Sheikh Hasina also issued a joint statement after the meeting. PM said- Last year we celebrated 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence. We also celebrated the first friendship day. India and Bangladesh will touch new heights in the coming days. Trade between Bangladesh and India is continuously increasing. Talks are also going on between the two countries in sectors like IT, Space, Nuclear. There is continuous improvement in people to people cooperation.

PM Modi said that Bangladesh is the biggest partner in India’s development in the field of trade.

PM Modi received Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who visited India, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. Sheikh Hasina will be on India tour till 8 September. During this, 7 agreements can be signed between the two countries. Before the meeting, Sheikh Hasina said- I hope it will be a very fruitful discussion and our main aim is to develop economically and also meet the basic needs of our people which we will be able to do. With friendship you can find solution to any problem so, we always do that.

Sheikh Hasina said in Rashtrapati Bhavan- India is our friend. It is always a pleasure for me to visit India, as it always reminds us of the contribution this country had made at the time of Bangladesh’s independence. Our relations are friendly and we always support each other.

Sheikh Hasina said- Our main focus is to increase cooperation among our people, eliminate poverty and repair the economy. Together with these issues, both of us will work together. With this, people of not only India-Bangladesh but all of South Asia can get a better life. That’s our goal.

Sheikh Hasina will also visit Ajmer Sharif Dargah
During the meeting with the President, India-Bangladesh can have 7 agreements related to defence, trade, railways, water management and technology. These include the important Kushiyara River Water Treaty. On September 8, Sheikh Hasina will also visit Ajmer Sharif’s Dargah.

Before coming to India, Rohingya was told a burden
In an interview before the tour of India, Sheikh Hasina called the Rohingya Muslims a challenge. He had said – this is a huge burden for the country and he feels that India can play a big role in finding a solution to this issue. He praised India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rescuing Bangladeshi students trapped in the Russo-Ukraine war.

India is Bangladesh’s ‘tested friend’
Sheikh Hasina said on Monday that India is a ‘tested friend’ of Bangladesh. He said- India sent several consignments of vaccine to Bangladesh under the Vaccine Friendship Program. This is also commendable. He stressed on maintaining strong cooperation between neighboring countries. He said there may be differences between India and Bangladesh, but they should be resolved through dialogue.
